Living Shells
Textile technology and wheatgrass root system as a growing structural shell Do living organisms and growing systems have the potential to produce an architectural shell? Using textile technology, the project examines the potential of wheatgrass root systems as an elastic raw material that produces an insulating and shading layer and even as a substrate for new growth. The living textile sheets can be used to create transient structures or in situations that build on existing architecture and offer an experience of a natural process of growth, renewal, and decay.
