The Giving Tree

"As no part of the palm has any waste, the dates being eaten, the branches used for Hallel, the twigs for covering [booths], the bast for ropes, the leaves for besoms, and the planed boards for ceiling rooms, so are there none worthless in Israel.…" Over the years, the parts of the palm tree have been used to make different objects. The focus of the project is working with the palm tree by-products, discovering the properties of the various parts, examining their reaction to a range of manipulations, and design that ranges from controlling the material to meeting its natural limitations.
